Kansas State University is located in Manhattan, Kansas. We are near the center of the lower 48 states of the United States of America. Below is information on traveling into Manhattan both car and by airplane.

By Car

From the North or South

In order to reach Manhattan via car, you will most likely end up on Interstate 70 which runs east and west. Coming from the south, Manhattan is best approached using Interstate 135 north to Interstate 70 east, or U.S. Highway 77 north to Interstate 70 east. Coming from the north, Manhattan is best approached using Interstate 135 south to Interstate 70 east, or U.S. Highway 24 south directly into Manhattan.

From the East or West

The easiest way to reach Manhattan is via Interstate 70 and turn north onto Kansas Highway 177 north directly into Manhattan. The city of Manhattan is located 10 miles north of Interstate 70 at mile marker 313.

By Plane

There are four airport options for your transportation into Manhattan. The closest option to campus, and our recommendation for travelers, is to fly into Manhattan Regional Airport. Below we have listed airports in our order of recommendation.

Manhattan Regional Airport

The airport is serviced by American Airlines with 2 flights daily to and from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and three flights daily to and from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Flights can be very reasonable flying into and out of Manhattan, but you need to purchase your ticket early to get good pricing. A shuttle will not be provided by the symposium.

Kansas City International Airport (MCI)

This airport is serviced by all major airlines. MCI is located approximately 130 miles from Manhattan. Attendees will either need to rent a car to get to Manhattan or arrange a shuttle to and from the airport. Shuttles generally average about $80 per person one way. If you choose to arrange a shuttle, options can be found here. A shuttle to and from Kansas City will not be provided by the symposium.

Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT)

This airport is serviced by all major airlines. ICT is located approximately 135 miles south of Manhattan. Attendees will either need to rent a car to get to Manhattan or arrange a shuttle to and from the airport. Shuttles generally average about $90 per person one way. If you choose to arrange a shuttle, options can be found here. A shuttle to and from Wichita will not be provided by the symposium.

Salina Regional Airport

This airport is serviced by United Airlines with one flight daily to and from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and one flight daily to and from Denver International Airport. There is no shuttle option to and from Salina. Attendees will need to rent a car to get to and from this airport. A shuttle to and from Salina will not be provided by the symposium.
